Music in the Park Returns

June 12, 2013 By VisitMadison 1 Comment

The return of Music in the Park is a sure sign that the summer season has arrived.  What a great way to spend a sultry summer evening, no effort required.  Madison Main Street puts on this event around the Broadway Fountain every second Friday of the month from now through September.  The music typically runs from 6:30-9pm but there’s a good reason to get there early.  You can stake out your preferred spot, exchange news with your neighbors, get a little something to eat and enjoy the opening acts from 6:30-7pm.

In addition to the new opening acts, hot food will be served beginning at 6pm.  Daddy’s Rabbits Concessions & Frazer Dogs are serving in June, Jug Heads Grub Co. & Frazer Dogs in July, Tiffany’s Lounge & Frazer Dogs in August and Frazer Dogs and an “as yet named” company in September.

So who’s playing in June?  Drew Geets is opening for The Rumors.  Based in Southern Indiana, The Rumors have been performing throughout the Midwest region since 1994.  Where ever they perform, the crowds can’t resist singing along & dancing to the best pop & rock tunes from the fifties to today.  I love to sing along but am warning you that sitting too close to me might be hazardous to your hearing!

Admission is free — as always. Remember your lawn chairs and enjoy the music from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Dancing is encouraged! It’s always a fun evening at Music in the Park.

Mark your calendar now for upcoming Music in the Park concerts:
Friday, July 12 — Jimmy Davis Band
Friday, Aug. 9 — Slick River Rockets
Saturday, Sept. 28 – Big Leg Emma
